Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 12 years and 10 months old | 15 lbs

My cat who is 13 has been losing weight and her white hair is turning grayish. Also she is eating very little and and now not pooping. It scares me. She is laying around more.

Poor Missy! She really needs to see a vet for an exam and full bloodwork to figure out what is going on. Kidney and thyroid disease is common in older kitties, and she could have something like this going on. Please schedule an appointment with your vet as soon as you can to get her some help. Good luck!

These are indeed very worrying symptoms and i recommend an urgent vet check and blood tests to identify the underlying causes. In older cats, diabetes, thyroid and kidney disease are all possible causes and early diagnosis is required for successful management
