What to do for my dog's cracked, bleeding nail before the vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | spayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 42 lbs

My Medium sized Jack Russel Terrier crossbreed has cracked her nail(Thumb) and it is bleeding a small bit, she didnt seem to be in pain at the start but as the night went on she seemed to be in a bit of pain, im taking her to the vet in the morning but i would like to know what i could do to help her in the mean time.

I do not recommend you give her any over the counter medications without talking to your vet first. Tearing a nail is painful but since it is not a weight bearing toe I don't think it is overly painful. If it is still bleeding you can use some corn starch on the nail to help stop the bleeding. You can also apply a small bandage to it to keep her from licking it. Just be sure not to wrap it too tight. I hope this helps. Best wishes to you and Dolly.
