Why is my teething puppy not eating all her food and sleeping poorly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 months and 21 days old | 10.6 lbs

Puppy is no longer finishing food. still eating but it's only half of each meal at a time. For the past two nights she hasn't slept very well. She is teething, but everything else is normal as far as pottying, drinking water, playful energy. She eats treats so I assume she's fine. She is getting spayed on Monday & sometimes she likes to be a little faker. But I just want to be sure because she's never not finished her food. It is warm where we live right now but she eats when it's cooler anyway

Hello, Snowball may have a decreased appetite for various reasons. In puppies this can be intermittent due to growth spurs, teething, or vaccinations. Other potential causes are things like intestinal worms, infections, or getting into something they weren't supposed to. If snowball continues to not want to eat as she used to, I would bring this up to your veterinarian to have her further evaluated. Hope this helps.
