Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 9 years and 2 months old
My 9 year old female staff has an enlarged breast (the back on by the tail area) the rest are normal. It isn't discoloured and feels soft to touch. She isn't in any discomfort and allowed my to touch it. It doesn't appear to be bothering her. There is no change in her behaviour or apitite. What could be the cause of this? What can I do/ need to do? I'm not sure if it could be the cause but she is currently in season and on her cycle (bleeding).

I would be concerned about possible mastitis. If she is currently in heat the mammary glands can swelling due to increase in her hormones. IF she is not painful or having any discharge I would not be concerned. Also fatty tumors can form on the mammary chain. IF at any time the area is red, painful or warm to touch I would recommend taking her to the vet to determine if she has mastitis.
