My cat is weak, won't eat, ignores kittens after fever. What can I do?

My pet cat blacky had high fever two days ago.We took her to the vet and he gave her amoxcillin and himdryin(antipyretic).Although her fever has been reduced ,she is refusing to eat and is very weak.She insists to lay down always and is not even feeding or caring her one month old kittens.She is so weak what should I do pls help.....

I am sorry to hear about Blacky. It sounds like she may need some supportive care to get her back on track. This could include fluid therapy and forced feeding or an appetite stimulant. You can call your vet and see if they can give her fluids (this can be done via an IV cather or under the skin which they can teach you to do at home) and an appetite stimulant. Until you are able to get her in to be seen you may try syringe feeding her water and you can also make a gruel by putting canned food in a blender with water to make it thin enough to pass through a syringe. If she isn't improving or gets the fever again she may need a different antibiotic or additional testing (such as bloodwork) to help determine why she is ill.
