2 of my dogs have had diarrhea for the past 2 days. What can I do to help them.. Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | spayed | 13 years and 5 months old | 20 lbs

Colitis (inflammation of the colon) and subsequent diarrhea can be caused by many different things such as intestinal parasites, dietary indiscretion, stress, or viruses, to name a few. I would start by at least bringing in a fecal sample to be checked by your vet to make sure your dogs don't have any intestinal parasites. In the meantime at home you can try feeding them a bland diet like plain boiled chicken and rice and see if that helps clear it up. If the diarrhea does not resolve in the next 24-48 hours I would recommend taking them in to be checked out by your vet. They may prescribe antibiotics, probiotics, and/or fluid therapy if they are dehydrated.
