Puppy fell, not using leg, but seems fine. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed

Hi my puppy is 8 weeks old and she fell off my bed and now she isn't putting much pressure on her back leg there isnt any swelling nor do i see or feel any broken bones. And she doesn't seem to have any pain when I touch it.

Oh no, poor Hazel! If she isn't putting much weight on it, then it is painful to her. Just because you can't feel any broken bones doesn't mean she hasn't broken one. The only way to know for sure is to have her seen by a vet right away for an x-rays. You need to have this checked out now because a broken bone could cause a disruption to her normal growth, or lead to a limb deformity. Please take Hazel into a vet now to have her leg examined and x-rayed.

    I'm so sorry to hear that Hazel had an accident! If she is not putting pressure on her back legs and/or limping, that is a sign of pain. Some dogs are very stoic and will not yelp or cry but are in pain. She could have a soft tissue injury, sprain/strain, or even a fracture or dislocation from the fall. I would recommend you take Hazel in to your vet to be evaluated. She likely needs some pain medication and/or anti-inflammatory medication. I do not recommend any human medication as many of them are quite toxic to dogs. Good luck! I hope she is feeling better soon!
