My male dog is peeing blood and has diarrhea. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Male dog urinating blood. Twice now. I took him on a run this morning and all seemed...he was just a little tired. But then this started. His feces are "spraying" almost like diarrhea.

I would recommend taking him to a vet as soon as possible. Urinating blood and liquid diarrhea can be very serious issues. The bloody urine could be caused by kidney disease, urinary tract infection, bladder stones, bladder masses, cystitis, trauma and infection. The liquid diarrhea could be related to gastric upset, stress, trauma, infectious disease and parasites. He needs to see a vet for some basic test like a urine sample, fecal and possible x-ray to determine what the cause is and proper medications
