My puppy has a lump after tick removal. Is it normal, will it go away?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 27 days old | 6 lbs

I found a tick on my 5 month old puppy, after removing it carefully, he had a small lump where the tick was, is this normal snd will the lump go away?

Poor Luca. Yes a localized inflammatory response from the tick bite is pretty normal. A photo of the area would have been nice as well; however, the lump should reduce in size over the next few days. If it doesn't or if the area starts to bother Luca, then its best to seek help with your local vet. You can also place a small amount of Neosporin on the area, allowing it soak in to the skin for 20 minutes without licking, to help it heal. Best wishes and take care.

    Hi there. Normally this will go away fairly quickly. Ticks are irritating to the skin. Make sure you have removed the entire parasite including the head. If you notice any side effects like trouble moving, weakness, lethargy, etc time for a doctor visit. Otherwise should be fine with time and you can apply a triple antibiotic as long as your puppy cannot lock or eat any of it. Hope this helps!
