My dog has a paw bump and won't stop licking. Cone keeps coming off!

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 25 lbs

We noticed as of yesterday a cyst like bump on paw. We have been trying to keep it clean as well as put a cone on her to keep her from licking it over and over but she some how gets the cone off, and no matter what we clean it, she licks it up right after. I don't know if we need to take her to a vet or be concerned and I'm also looking for suggestions to keep her from licking the wound?

The wound looks clean but does look at risk of infection so would likely benefit from an antibiotic to heal well. Salt water bathe in the mean time. You can try and keep the buster collar on by tying it to a harness or by tying a make shift harness. If you don't understand please ask.
