My dog has a soft, growing lump. Is it a fatty tumor or cancer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 10 months old | 22 lbs

Hi I live over 2 hours drive away from our nearest vet so thought I would use your service. This growth you see in the attach photos started about 6 months ago and has gradually got bigger. It is not hard but squidgy and does not seem to give her any problems at all. It is just there. Is this just a fatty tumour or something more serious? Is surgery the best solution as I know it could grow back if just a fatty tumour? She eats Pedigree Adult Biscuits and is not overweight. Any advice. Thanks

It is concerning that this growth on Skype keeps getting bigger, and it could be something serious. I see that she isn't spayed, and there's a chance this growth could be a mammary tumor. It could also be a cyst, a lipoma, or another type of benign or malignant tumor. It would be best for her to see a vet for this to diagnose what is causing this lump so it can be treated as needed. It may need to be removed surgically, and typically surgical removal can be curative depending on the cause of the lump.
