Diarrhea with blood is usually a sign of infection, bowel disease or worms. If it happened more than once I would recommend taking Lifey to the vet in order to get it checked and treated, she will probably need a course of antibiotics.

If Calypso is eating normally she should be producing regular stool. Puppies can have blood in their stool from a number of reasons, such as intestinal parasites, dietary indiscretion, diet change, as well as bacteria or viruses. Even though the second stool appeared normal, I would recommend you take her to a vet for an exam since she hasn't produced stool today, and that can be abnormal. I would also have her stool checked for intestinal parasites, as many puppies her age can have them and can be treated with a simple deworming medication.

I am sorry to hear about your puppy. Diarrhea this frequently with blood is very concerning, especially given she is so young and hasn't finished her parvo vaccines yet. I would recommend getting her to the vet today, as we would be very concerned about the potential for parvo in her, and it may be that we are at the beginning of the illness which is why she still seems playful. The safest course of action is to have her examined. They can also check her for some parasites such as worms and giardia which can cause diarrhea in puppies.

Hello, sorry to hear about Pippa. If she continues to have frank blood diarrhea then she should indeed be seen tonight. If she seems to be eating, drinking, and acting otherwise normal and she stops having diarrhea, then she can wait to see her veterinarian in the morning. Possible causes of this can include a dietary indiscretion, parasite infections or even viral infections such as parvovirus. These would need to be diagnosed with some bloodwork, snap tests, and potentially bloodwork. Hope this helps and best of luck.
