My dog had urinary stones. Can I switch from costly prescription food?

Is there a non prescription dog food that I can buy my dog was diagnosed over three years ago with stones the prescription dog food has become very expensive she's never had to go back regarding the stones and is healthy with everything else. I feed her both canned and kibble it is urinary SO Royal canin. I have checked online and found some recipes that I can make is that a good idea

I wouldn't recommend trying a home cooked diet without consulting your veterinarian first - many recipes online are not nutritionally balanced. Whether or not your dog can switch to a new diet depends on the type of stone - some are more likely than others to come back. Ask your veterinarian about other options, and be up front about the cost being an issue.
