Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 7 years and 7 months old
My 7 year old, neutered Pitbull has been licking himself abnormally for the past few days. He's always been a licker so we thought he was just doing his ritual. A few days ago that he started licking almost non-stop. About 48 hours ago he started having a non-bloody discharge from his genitalia. Today it's become a bloody discharge and it's quite a bit. Today he went to the vet and no test were done, just an exam and a UTI diagnosis. Since then, the bleeding has worsened. What can we do?

Poor Lucky! I would take him back into a vet now. The fact that bleeding has worsened concerns me, and that really should be examined right away. He should have tests done, such as routine blood tests, a urinalysis, and possibly x-rays. This bleeding could be caused by a protastic adenocarcinoma, so a rectal exam should be done as well. The cause needs to be diagnosed so Lucky can receive the correct treatment.

It sounds like he has multiple issues and needs to be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He could have a urinary tract infection, kidney disease, or endocrine disease causing his urine to be dilute. Your vet can run a urinalysis and bloodwork to help determine the cause. If he has a mass than your vet can do a needle aspirate to determine the type of mass and best way to treat. Call your vet and schedule an appointment as this is not going to be something that can be diagnosed and managed without an visit.
