My kittens left brown specks on my bed. Are they worms or fleas?

Cleaned my kittens feet and noticed very small brown worm like things on the edge of my bed where they where. They were just given first round of heart worm treatment but wonder if I should be concerned. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 5 days old | 2 lbs

These won't be heartworms, as they aren't passed in the feces. From the pictures you provided, it looks like flea dirt to me and Flora and Fauna may have fleas. I will give you a flea treatment program for them, and I would also make sure they are up to date on their deworming treatments for intestinal worms. Flea treatment: First, I would give them Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home.
