My cat has a swollen, red lip and mouth blister. Is it an allergy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

My cat Zatara and her sister Zatanna both started vomiting every time i fed them the HEB brand kitten and cat food. so i changed it to can food and they seem fine. Now i don't know if Zatara is allergic to the new food because two days ago i noticed her bottom lip was reddish and swollen she also has this white/ yellow looking bluster on the side of her mouth. It Doesn't seem to bother or hurt her but I'm still concerned.

Allergic reactions can cause swelling, however if the area is also blistering or oozing debris it is possible there could be an abscess (infection), virus, burn, ulceration, or other issue causing her symptoms. It would be best to bring her into your vet to have the area examined, especially if the swelling is in the face/mouth.
