Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 7 lbs
My female cat has a sore on her left hip that is infected that is bleeding and i can see part of her muscle of her tail. She just got spayed last week and I noticed it the day after. What could this be?

Poor Jady! Wounds like that are often caused by a cat bite or some sort of other injury getting infected then breaking out. I can see it's amongst the unclipoed fur so nothing to do with the spay wound. You should keep it clean with salt water and get her to the vet asap for an assessment. At the least she will need an antibiotic.

Poor Jady! That looks like a deep wound and I would recommend taking her in to your vet to get it evaluated. She may need to be sedated and have that wound flushed and probed for pocketing or foreign material that may have gotten in it. Sometimes we have to put a drain in wounds like this to allow any infection to drain out. Jady also likely needs antibiotics and an e-collar to prevent/treat any infection. As for what could have caused it, it could be a number of things. I have seen similar wounds occur from bite wound from another animal, self trauma, or even an injury at home, for example an animal crawling under something sharp like a fence. Your vet may be able to give you some idea as to how it could have occurred once Jady gets an exam.
