My dog is vomiting, lethargic, and breathing fast. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 9 years and 6 months old | 10 lbs

My dog has vomited multiple times in the past 12 hours. She is laying around. She won't eat or drink and her breathing seems very rapid. She is under my bed right now and she won't even respond to her favorite word...cheese. She is an inside dog. She doesn't go outside. I don't think that she has ingested anything toxic. She did have a pig ear but that was about 4 days ago. I have not noticed any abnormal stools. No blood in vomit. She is a 9 yo Yorkie with no known health problems.

I would recommend taking zoey to a veterinarian due to her vomiting. I am concerned that she will become dehydrated which can make her worse. Unfortunately there are a range of issues that can cause vomiting like bacterial, viral, foreign object and organ disease. I hope zoey feels better
