Our dog is a Boarder Collie/Maremma-kengal cross. She has had diarrhea for the last 4 days. She shows no signs of discomfort other than a slight bit of straining while pooping. Her attitude and personality seems unchanged. She has had an increase in bowel movents. She needs to poop about twice as much as normal.

Skeena is a cutie and I'm sorry to hear that she's had so much diarrhea! Possible causes of diarrhea in a young dog include viruses, parasites, gastroenteritis from eating different foods or treats, or parvovirus (highly unlikely if she was fully vaccinated). Since Skeena otherwise seems normal, you can first try a home remedy. Start by withholding food for 12-24 hours, then offer small frequent meals of a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days. After the diarrhea resolves, gradually transition back to her normal puppy food by mixing the two foods together over 5-7 days. If Skeena's diarrhea worsens, she starts vomiting, becomes lethargic or stops eating, she will need to go to her vet for further evaluation. I hope that all goes well!
