At what age should kittens get their first shots and flea treatment?

I have kittens who will be a week old on Monday. At what age can they recieve shots and flea treatment?

At one week old, I believe the only flea treatment available to them is the Frontline spray. As they get older and heavier in weight, the options will open up considerably. The first shot that cats usually receive is the distemper combination vaccine. They usually get this at 8 weeks, and then a booster at 12 and 16 weeks. Rabies shots can be given at 12 weeks. If the cat is going to be an outdoor cat, you may also want to consider the leukemia vaccine.
