My dog has a lump on her snout that's getting bigger. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 5 years and 3 months old | 70 lbs

Background on Joanie: She is around 6 years old, and I think she is mostly Rhodesian Ridgeback and German Shepard. My dog has a lump on her snout that has gotten bigger since I last checked it. She has had seizures in the past and it taking antiseizure medications. She also eats a special dog food as she is allergic to some ingredients.

This looks like a mass of some sort. From the picture it looks like a mole but if it is getting bigger and/or bothering her I would recommend to have your vet doing an exam on her to ensure that it doesn't need to be removed.

This mass could be a benign growth like an adenoma or cyst. Rarely we can see melanomas form on the skin of dogs. If it continues to grow in size I would recommend your veterinarian do an exam and possibly remove that mass to make sure it's not cancerous.
