My cat keeps sneezing. Is it allergies or should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 10 months and 7 days old | 6 lbs

My cat keeps sneezing no other symptoms besides that. Is it allergies? Can I give her something or should I see a vet?

Hi there. If the sneezes produce clear fluid only, and she is eating and drinking, playful, etc., then I wouldn't be too concerned. If it proceeds to lethargy, yellow discharge, decreased appetite, etc., then she would need to be seen.

Hi. Lulu may just be allergic to something in the environment. Other possibilities for sneezing include viral or bacterial upper respiratory infection, grass or foreign body in her nose. Just watch that Lulu is eating and drinking well. If she develops nasal discharge or stops eating than something else may be going on.

Sneezing in cats can be due to allergy or simply irritation in the nasal passages. As long as she is bright simply monitor her. If it continues or she develops nasal discharge have her examined in case something is stuck in her nose.
