My dog has a wobbly pink growth in her mouth, but no pain. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 65 lbs

My dog has a fleshy pink growth in her mouth. She lets me touch it and examine it. It seems to wiggle like a loose tooth when touched. She doesn't appear to be in any pain or discomfort and is eating/drinking/playing with chew toys as normal. What could it be?

This could be overgrown gingiva, a mass called an epulius, are we can see more serious tumors of the mouth such as melanomas and squamous cell carcinoma's. To be sure it is nothing serious your veterinarian could do an exam and discuss if it needs to be removed or not.
