Why does my kitten pee outside the litter box but poop inside?

i wondered if you have tips on litterbox training a kitten. i adopted 2 female kittens from the same litter. they are 8 weeks. for now they are in a big bathroom with bed food water and litter pans made for kittens. one kitty is using the pans to pee and poo every time. the other one goes up to a pan, pees just outside the pan, then gets in to poo. she does this every time. they have been to the vet for first vaccines and checkups and both are healthy. tips? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 3 days old | 1.6 lbs

Litterbox troubles can be frustrating ! And Charlotte is still very young. I bet she will figure it out very soon. A couple of things you could try- instead of a kitten litterbox you could try something even bigger and flatter like the top to a Tupperware bin. If she is still urinating just outside of it you could place seran wrap under the litterbox. Maybe she will not like the texture or the pooling of urine on it and decide to use the box. Also keeping the boxes very clean always helps with any litter box issues. Have fun with those kittens!!
