Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 13 years and 5 months old | 13 lbs
I have my cat ever since she was 1 year old, and she's really close to me. For a while already, she has started coughing nonstop for about 1-2 minutes for no apparent reasons. She doesn't seem sick, it has been going on for about 5-6 months. The cough doesn't seem to be triggered by anything in particuliar (not exercices or eating etc.) actually, it pretty much always starts of nowhere when she's lying down and either relaxing or litterally sleeping... Do you have an idea what might cause this?

Hi. I would have Missy evaluated by her veterinarian. A cough starting in an older cat could potentially be signs of heart disease. Other possibilities include asthma, bronchitis, or other inflammatory disease. Her veterinarian can do a physical exam, listening to her heart and lungs and from there may recommend radiographs or bloodwork to assess her health.
