My dog has dry, flaky patches on its face. What's the cause?

That could be due to a skin infection (bacterial or fungal) or possibly an auto-immune disorder. A clinical examination and some skin testing are needed to confirm this clinical suspicion and treat appropriately. Skin scrapes and hair plugs and possibly a small skin biopsy may be needed to reach a diagnosis.
