Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 months and 14 days old
Hello! I was waiting to clean up after my cat when he was pooping, and half his poop was fine while the other half was light brown with a bit of pink or light red in it. He has never been dewormed, and I'll take him to the vet first thing in the morning. But I wanted to see if it's dangerous. I'm really worried! He's acting fine and very active, and is eating well! I changed his food 10 days ago. HELP

Hi there! Sorry you are so worried about Felix! I think he will be OK until tomorrow. It could be some colon irritation from the diet change. It could be from parasites. I would recommend taking a photo of the stool if you haven't discarded it already so your vet can see it. Taking an actual sample of the stool for them to see would actually be even better. If you could save some in a ziploc bag, double bag it and put it in the refrigerator so you can take it with you to the appointment - that would be super great! I know that sounds gross but that would be really helpful to your vet. Be sure to tell the vet what food you had him on before and what the new diet is. Try not to worry too much. I think he will be just fine until tomorrow :) I hope this helps. Best wishes! Dr. Amber

Poor Felix! It sounds like he may have blood in his feces. If he's never been dewormed, then that might be a very likely cause of the blood in his feces. It's a good idea to have him seen by a vet in the morning, and I wouldn't be too concerned about it being dangerous beaus he's eating well and acting normally. If he was vomiting, very lethargic, and not eating, then I would be quite concerned. It's fine to wait until the morning to have Felix seen by a vet. Bring along this sample of feces for the vet to examine for worms. I hope this helps!
