My cat had three X-rays today. Is that safe for her health?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Our cat has been xrayed three times in one day in vet clinic. Even though the vet said that it was not a problem but still it got us worried. Please if you can tell us does the overdosing of xray has lethal effect on the cat and is three xrays considered lethal

Three X-rays would not be anywhere near a lethal dose, so you don't need to worry. Most vets will take precautions to only X-ray the area they need to and to try and cover other exposed areas to help reduce exposure. Your kitty will be just fine from the X-rays. Hopefully they helped to figure out why it may have been feeling unwell!

While a lot of X-rays aren't great, this isn't anywhere near a lethal or dangerous dose. Your vet is likely taking precautions to minimize exposure, and the benefits of having the X-ray greatly outweigh any cons of having more than one X-ray in a day. You can see if your vet can ultrasound Zef instead of an X-ray, however having multiple X-rays likely won't cause any harm.
