Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | 4 years and 1 month old | 15 lbs
My Misty was recently treated for impacted anal glands. How rare are they in cats, how do they develop and anything i can do to help her not get them again? Thank you.

They are more rare in cats than in dogs, but not unusual. The best way to avoid them in the future is to increase the amount of fiber and grain in her diet. Since cats can be picky, it is best added by finding a formula with it built in.
