My cat won't eat cat food, losing weight. What can I feed her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My cat jaggy has not yet gotten better or made any changes in her appetite... At times she likes eating raw meat? Sometimes cold or warm but she doesn't eat cat food what's so ever. She's losing a lot of weight and I don't think she's going to make it if I don't get her to eat? What could I feed her that she may like or prefer more?

First of all, if she has not seen a vet yet this is the first thing you need to do before thinking about giving her different types of food that she might eat, if she isn't eating- she is ill and will need to be diagnosed and most probably medicated in order to get better. Now regarding foods she might want to eat, i would advise to try sardines, boiled chicken, canned tuna and liver pate.

Hi, I am sorry to hear that Jaggy is so ill. You did not indicate her age so i'm not sure if she is young or old but she does sound sick. You can try to offer her chicken or turkey baby food, canned chicken or tuna, or cooked shredded pieces of chicken. If you feel like she is in serious decline of health I would highly recommend an immediate visit to her veterinarian. Even is she eats a little bit for you, the underlying disease making her so ill still needs to be addressed. Her doctor can give you a lot of information by doing a physical exam and may recommend running some lab tests to find out why she is so sick and what is the best way to get her back to good health. Best of luck to you and Jabby.
