My 6-month Pitbull puppy throws up after eating and lost weight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 13 days old | 30 lbs

Hello! My 6 month old Pitbull has been throwing up after he eats (his regular food). We recently had him boarded while we were on vacation.. and the sitter said he threw up quite a bit after he ate. He has never had this problem. He does have quite a bit of separation anxiety. But one of our other dogs was there with him. I also noticed him grinding his teeth today when he was eating. We weighed him since he has been back home and looked like he lost 5 pounds. Please help!

Oh poor Diesel!! Vomiting after eating can be caused by a sensitivity to that particular food, by eating something that upset/irritated his stomach, or even by a toy or foreign material that is lodged in stomach or intestine. If he is otherwise behaving normally I would pull up his regular food and offer him small frequent meals of bland food like boiled skinless chicken breast and rice. If he continues vomiting this I would bring him in to your veterinarian for an exam and potentially x-rays and lab work to sort out what is going on.
