My hamster has red, dry blood around her nostrils. What's wrong?

This is evening when we were going to get our Syrian hamster, Daenerys, who is almost exactly 1 yr old, out for her usual play time we noticed some redness that looked like dry blood around her nostrils. It's local to the rims and inside of her nostrils but doesn't extend to her mouth or anywhere else. She is eating and seems in usual spirits but the concern is that this doesn't seem to have come from biting bars as she would likely have a mark on her nose. Please can you help? Many thanks,

The two main options are a trauma to the nose area (could be from a fall on the head) or due to an upper respiratory infection. i would advise keeping an eye on her in the next few days, if it is a trauma it should get a little bit better every day, if it is an infection it's likely to get worse and you will need to take her to the vet in order to get it treated.
