I have a 10 year old english springer spaniel and he has a round lump about the 1 inch in size on his stomach area in front of his rear leg/hip. What could this be?

A lump in this area could be caused by many different things, so unfortunately it's hard to say what this might be without being able to examine Oscar and do some testing. It could be a tumor of some kind (either cancerous or benign), or possibly some type of skin infection or localized inflammatory reaction. I would recommend taking Oscar to the vet to have this checked when you are able to. Your veterinarian may be able to identify the lump based on its appearance and the way it feels, or may recommend doing a simple test called a fine needle aspirate to find out for sure what it is. Surgical removal may be recommended if the lump is determined to be some type of tumor.
