Is diarrhea and excessive thirst normal after my cat's depo shot?

My cat (14) just got a depo shot and now she's having diarrhea. This has never happened before. And she's also drinking water excessively, but that has been happening since before the shot. Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 9 lbs

These are potential steroid side-effects. However, if your older cat has not had bloodwork recently she needs to, as she could have kidney disease or diabetes going on. I try to stay away from the depot steroid treatments like depomedrol because once the injection has been given, it can't be taken away (like pills can just be discontinued) once side-effects are noticed.
