My dog's belly hurts again. What can I do until her vet appointment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 11 months old | 4 lbs

Small precious bean is sensitive to touch on the abdominal areas. This is not the first time that it hurts her and our local vet has given her antibiotics and Royal Canine s/o at that time. She was feeling better but it seems that it returned. She's still eating her medical food. She has another appointment in a month. In the meanwhile what should I do to help her feel better?

It's hard to tell exactly what is going on with Bella from your description. But usually the S/O diet is used to dissolve bladder stones or to help get the urine more dilute, so I'm guess something related to her bladder is going on. If she's sensitive to touch, I'd recommend calling your veterinarian to see if they can see her sooner than her next appointment or give you some recommendations specific to her situation such as a pain medicatgion. In the mean time, make sure Bella has access to lots of water.
