Cat vomiting, bloody stool, and litter box issues after new food. Is it the food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed

Hello so recently I changed my cats food and since that she had thrown up a little bit and seems to not make it to the litter box and blood in her stool. Could it be the cat food because I have another cat and she is fine.

Yes, it can be the food even though your other cat is ok. Each cat will react different to a diet change, and it sounds like this diet change may be upsetting Frosty's stomach. I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food or on the bland diet, she stops eating, becomes lethargic, or she continues to have blood in her stool, I would have her seen by a vet.
