My dog has chronic snot, sneezing, and reverse sneezing. Is it serious?

My dog is incredibly snotty (I can hear it when he's falling asleep), has fits of big sneezes, and also episodes of what I guess is reverse sneezing. I've had him almost a year and he's always done this off and on. He's been treated with two rounds of antibiotics in the past few months for upper respiratory stuff. He stopped for a while and it started back recently. Sometimes he vomits which I assume is from the snot? I also give him Benadryl in the morning and evening. Is this serious? Given that this seems to be a continuing problem with Bentley, I would be wondering if he is suffering from allergies. He may benefit from stronger medications if he does have allergies, such as steroids or Apoquel. It's worth a discussion with your vet to see if this is something that may be suitable for him. In the meantime, since he's congested, you can try using a humidifier or bringing him into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections.
