Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 11 lbs
My outdoor cat is losing hair behind his ears and also in front of the ears. He was a stray that took me five months to catch and get neutered. Although we have had him for five years, it's very hard to get him to sit still long enough to get a pic much less attempt to get him in a kennel to take him to the vet. Any idea?

Your cat may well have ear mites, which are contagious and extremely itchy, causing cats to scratch their ears raw inside and in front of the ears. I would have an exam done right away so your veterinarian can start the appropriate treatment. You'll have to figure out how to get him into a kennel to go for a vet visit!

This could be due to a specific mite called Scabies as well as UV exposure and autoimmune disease. Sometimes applying an ointment like neosporin helps until a pet can see a veterinarian. You should prevent hil from scratching his ears if possible, keep him indoors and his ears clean with warm water and a very mild soap. Do not give any oral medications as they can be very toxic to cats.
