My cat won't feed her kitten. What milk formula should I use?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 day old | 0.05 lbs

Our cat recently had kittens about 35 hours ago, 1 died right after birth, 2 died because the mother hasn't been feeding them or staying around them, the only time she checks on them is to clean them. We have been feeding the last one with an eye dropper. We are using soy milk baby product stuff. We have the kitten on top of a blanket with a warming may set to medium under it. I'm pretty certain the they are premature birthed. What can we do to help it stay alive until we can take it to the vet

Soy milk baby product isn't a suitable milk replacer for this kitten, and it will not be giving her the nutrients she needs. She needs a kitten formula such as KMR, which can be gotten from a pet store or grocery store. You need to go out now to get this formula or she could die from being fed an inadequate diet. Keep her warm, remember to stimulate her to pass feces and urine after being fed, and have her seen by a vet first thing in the morning. I will put a link below to a website that has more details on bottle raising kittens: http://www.2ndchance.info/orphankitten.htm
