Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 9 lbs
My cat was seen by our vet 10 days ago for his recurring FIV issues. He had 2 skin lesions and which tested for eosinophilic granuloma. He was given a Covenia injection and prescribed a course of Prednisone. As the scabs are now healing, he has begun itching them again and made them red and sore. Can I give him Benadryl along with his Prednisone? Thank you

Poor cat. Looks like your vet chose a good treatment plan for Ricky. Eosinophilic granulomas aren't typically itchy, so I would make sure there are no fleas present that would cause him to itch. Putting on a flea preventative is advised. But to answer your question, yes Benadryl can be given alongside Prednisone to help with itching. Here is the proper dosing that you will need to give. http://m.petmd.com/cat/general-health/can-you-give-cat-benadryl It will cause some drowsiness usually so just expect that. If you have any further concerns about the dosage or any side effects then it's best to contact your vet. I hope Ricky gets his skin lesions resolved soon!
