My dog has diarrhea, isn't eating, and whimpers. Is she very sick?

My dog is not eating and has diarrhea. She looks like she feels awful. She usually runs around and is super hyper, but she is just laying around. Her ears are down and she is whimpering. What do you think it is?

Poor girl! She sounds like she feels pretty poorly. Diarrhea can be caused by many, many things. I tend to judge whether or not it is serious by how the dog is acting. If she is not her normal, bouncy self and if she is not eating, I would be very concerned that this could be something serious. I strongly recommend your taking her in to your veterinarian as soon as you can. Be prepared that he/she will likely want to do blood work, radiographs, and a fecal float/fecal smear test to see why she is so sick. She may need antibiotics and probiotics to feel better.
