My male cat was straining to pee and urinating blood so I took him to the vet yesterday. This has happened once in the past and antibiotics and steroids fixed it. This vet injected him with the steroids and I have the antibiotic but he also injected buprenorphine for pain. My cat is super sensitive to drugs shots etc so I was leary but let him do it. We are now in the 25th hour since the injection and he is still acting strange, hyperactive, won't sleep or eat much. All around not himself. Help!

I would be worried that your cat is actually starting to experience the signs of a urinary blockage, and needs to have a urinary catheter placed in order to allow him to urinate normally until the inflammation and swelling associated with the urethra goes down. Please return to the vet where you took him; urinary blockage is life-threatening and medications alone frequently do not correct the problem.
