My puppy recovered from parvo fast. Is he fully recovered or can he get sick again?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hello , I have a 2 month old pitbull that was diagnosed with parvo yesterday night . He got sick in the morning and later at night he was taken to the vet. We were able to get home treatment because it was caught early , yesterday he was very ill and all night I hydrated him and gave him his medicine . Today he woke up happy and drinking and eating like normal . I feel like it was a very fast recovery which is why I'm wondering if he can get sick again? And is he actually recovered?

Some dogs will have relatively mild signs with parvovirus and some are completely asymptotmatic. If he was truly parvovirus positive on a test he will not get parvovirus again. Sometimes the nausea and diarrhea can wax and wane a little but I would think it's very encouraging that your dog is eating. I would still finish all medications as prescribed.
