Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 7 lbs

My cat won't eat, is sleeping most of the time, looks tired, blood nose and teary red eyes. She make sounds like she coughing or choking, I took her to the vet and they did X-rays and drew blood and found nothing. They gave her some liquids and she seemed a bit better and ate a drink water but now a day later she is back to being sick. This has been going on for 5 days

It's really tough to give you a specific answer about what is going on with Peach without knowing what specific blood tests were run and what part of her body was xrayed. Clearly, this diagnosis is elusive and she is not getting better definitively - the fluids helped, probably treated her dehydration- but ultimately nothing has resolved. Since her signs seem to suggest upper respiratory disease (coughing/choking sounds, bloody nasal discharge) she may need to have advanced tests done, i.e. Rhinoscopy (looking in the nose and mouth/throat with a camera under anesthesia) to get a better idea what is going on. She could have a nasal tumor or polyp, or a foreign body, or maybe just a very serious infection. I think it is time to seek the help of a specialist in trying to determine the exact cause of her signs and proper treatment.
