Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed
my cat has developed a few scabs on her skin in the last few days, but I don't know if they're more likely from a fight with my housemate's cat or from fleas. She has exhibited no signs of fleas up until these scabs - e.g. no itching etc.

Hello. I am sorry that Chicken has some wounds. To check for fleas you can look at her skin, through her fur, near her tail on her back. If you see little red dots you can take a wet paper towel and grab some of the little black dots. If those dots turn red then she has fleas. You can also look for flea dirt (their poop, the little black dots that turn red in water) at the back of her neck and up her back. If she isn't scratching, and the wounds don't appear to be swollen, or have any discharge, then you can monitor them and make sure they heal nicely. If you notice a lump under the scratches or any swelling or discharge it could be an abscess from bite wounds and requires veterinary care.
