Why are my dog's back legs weak after a hike? Is he just sore?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 5 years and 7 months old | 30 lbs

Marley is a 6 year old male boxer and we went for a hike 3 days ago and he was fine but I noticed yesterday that it is hard for him to walk with his back legs is he isn't use to going on hikes could he just be sore?

Hello. I am sorry to hear that Marley isn't feeling well. It is possible that he is just sore if the hike was a big hike and he isn't used to that much activity. He could be starting to develop arthritis as he is getting a bit older now. There are other possible causes as well including spine disease, so if the problem gets worse, or if he seems wobbly in the back legs (walking like he is drunk) or crying out when you touch his back, then have him seen right away. Otherwise, talk to your vet about joint supplements.
