Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old

Hello! I have a Cockatiel and she is one year old. For the first time, she laid and egg today. I want to know if I should expect more eggs and what food should I give her the most (she eats eggs, vegetables, rice, pasta etc) I'm worried because I don't know how to handle this. I want her to be fine and stay healthy. Please, I need advise! Thank you! Angela

They typically lay one egg every two days until the have a clutch of 2-8 eggs. If she is housed alone, the eggs will be infertile. She will need a fortified seed mix or commercial pelleted diet and extra calcium. Allow her to incubate the clutch for 21-30 days before attempting removal. You can take them out sooner if she abandons them.

Leave them in the cage/nest. If you remove them, she will keep laying. Leave them until she loses interest which could be in 2-3 weeks. Provide a commercial pelleted diet supplemented with a fortified seed mix. Provide a cuttlebone or mineral block as well. She will lay anywhere from 2 to 8 eggs total and there will likely be one day separating each egg.
