When your cat is stressed, removal of the cause of stress is the cure. However sometimes it is hard to find the cause. This could even be something he sees outside through the window, such as the neighbour's cat teasing him. I suggest you get some Feliway dispensers for your house. Feliway is a feline "happy" pheromone which can relieve stress. You will need to do this for a few months. Take away everything inedible that he may ingest. Instead of expecting him to play with himself, take out time everyday for about 30 minutes and actively play with him by throwing paper balls, or pulling a string so he can run after it, or let him chase a laser point. If none of this works (incl. the Feliway), discuss this with your veterinarian. Bandit may then need some medication to reduce stress.
