Dog eye scratched by cat, worried about infection. What to do now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year old

My dog, Chii, was scratched on the eyes by a stray cat. It happened this morning, i rushed home when I saw my mother's message, and saw my dog's left eye shut and saw something whitish on her pupil. Please, I need your advice. I went to the vet already but the doctor's out and I'm currently waiting for one to come to my house. What should I do? Chii acts the same, but I'm scared that she could be having an infection right at this moment. She tries to open her right eye but only to close it again

She could have a corneal scratch that can get infected. There is nothing to do right at this moment other than wait for your vet and have some antibiotics eye drops prescribed. Do not try to apply anything or wash the eye as it won't be effective and could damage the eye even further. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation (where you can post pictures ) if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.
