What's this red, inflamed lump on my dog's eye? Is it serious?

I have noticed a short mass which I describe as inflamed nodule on the edge of the eye of my dog. What does it mean?

This mass on Mishie Coste's eye could be a stye, a benign tumor, or a malignant tumor. You can try holding a wash cloth soaked in warm water to the mass to see if that helps encourage drainage. Do this for 5-10 minutes at a time a couple of times over the weekend. If this does not help with it, then I would have her seen by a vet on Monday to have this mass diagnosed and treated.

There are many possible causes but blocked oil glands, skin tags and benign growths would be the most common. If it is causing discomfort from rubbing on the surface of the eye it should be removed as soon as possible, otherwise monitor for any further changes
